Ms. Liselotte Højgaard

Professor Liselotte Højgaard graduated from the University of Copenhagen with a degree in medicine in 1982 followed by a doctorate in medical sciences in 1991. She is currently Chair of the Danish National Research Foundation and Head of the Department Clinical Physiology, Nuclear Medicine & PET at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. She previously held positions as Editor-in-Chief for Læger, Denmark’s national medical journal, and as President of The Royal Medical Society of Copenhagen.

She is active in research in the fields of medical technology related to gastroenterology, pathophysiology, clinical physiology and nuclear medicine and has contributed to over 200 peer-reviewed publications. Professor Højgaard is also involved in international health policy through her committee positions, such as Chair of The Standing Committee of The European Medical Research Councils and Chair of the Science Advisory Board at the European Commission. Moreover, she has recently been appointed as Chair of the EU Advisory Group for the Horizon 2020 “Health, demographic change and wellbeing” programme.

Professor Højgaard joined the EACHR in 2012.
